The Indigo-Dyed Carl Yak Shirt

Our Carl Yak Shirt, now in an exclusive indigo-dyed plaid for FW25. Made in partnership with Green Matters Natural Dye Company.

This fabric made up into some of the most unique shirting we could ask for – and that’s only on the surface. Based on utility in action, it provides an exceptional amount of comfort and warmth. In honor of the guy who named the yak—for science—we had to call it The Carl Yak Shirt.

However, we didn’t expect something… this thing looks many microns sharper than the average warm shirt. The Italian fisheye Corozo buttons are an attractive addition, which took to the natural indigo dye well. Hidden buttons on the collar make it easy to go from daily flannel to cold-weather dress shirt in a pinch.

The natural indigo dye process that the Green Matters team has mastered is a treat for every piece that passes through the facility. Using only vats of rain water and plant-based, organic indigo material, each piece is hand-dyed with care and attention. One by one, each garment comes out with subtle variations that add depth and intrigue to the fabric.
