The Highlander Balmacaan
Named for its Scottish roots, the Highlander Balmacaan introduces more classic tailoring into our line. Like the Errigal Tweed Polo Coat, the Highlander was built by our partners at Rochester Tailored Clothing in New York.
Abraham Moon of England provided the exceptional gun check cloth, turning a simple coat into an exciting staple. The open weave has a texture so unique to the touch that looking at it becomes only half of the experience. Its earthy colors caught the attention of every commuter in the station during our editorial shoot, and most stopped to ask when it would finally be released.
Specific construction elements differentiate a balmacaan from a standard overcoat: raglan sleeves for ease of movement, a large pointed collar, and two slash pockets at the hips. Its rather loose and full fit calls in the belt to secure the silhouette. Though it is single-breasted, the jacket's drape is encompassing.
We're particularly enamored with how bucolic the style is. In the middle of the city, it's the reminder of rolling hills and quiet streams that counts.
